We're Having a Whale of a Time!

We are having a fun time!  The weather has been on and off, sun then rain.  There has been just enough sun to actually go to the beach for a picnic.  The grand kids made a driftwood fort to keep out of the wind.

I was inspired by the day at the beach and decided to make a card based on that theme, so my card for Digital Delights this week features a special little whale.

The paper bits are torn into the shape I needed for each element.

Card Recipe:
Images: Digital Delights Whale of a Time Sentiment, Whale
Paper: Michael's Color Sheets - Seaside, SU So Safron, craft brown and green scraps
Markers/Ink: Distress Tea Dye, Copics - B02, B04, B06

April Showers Bring May Flowers

Well, today we are back to rain in the Northwest which is to be expected at this time of year.  I am not sure where this saying came from "April showers bring May flowers," but it makes sense for my part of the country.  I made a card today based on that sentiment using an image from The Paper Shelter.

I was looking through my tools to find some way of adding flowers at the base of the card and came across this great punch from Martha Stewart and then added punched flowers (al la Kittie).

Card Recipe:
Images: Paper Shelter - Sharing a rainy day
Paper: SU Whisper White and Teal, Bella Blvd - Spring Flings and Easter Things (both sides)
Markers/Inks: Distress Tea Dye, Forest Moss, Copics - R35, BG11, BG13, BG15, BG18, Y15, Y08, Y02, R83, R85, R81, YG21, YG23, YG25, Y28, YR2-, YR21, E13
Embellishments: EK Success Retro flower punches Die-Namics grass die, MS Flowery Fench die, ribbon, Spellbinders Labels 23

Paper, Spellbinders, ribbon, and punches were purchased at my local Scrapbook store - Scrapbook Central.

Dorothy is Looking for Oz

My card for Digital Delights this week continues the theme of Oz.  This time I have Dorothy and the Emerald City made into a Criss-cross card.

Check out the Digital Delights site to see all the new OZ images just released last week.

The pull-out tag

Card Recipe:
Paper: SU Daffodil and So Safron, Michael's blue
Markers/Ink: Copics - Tree stump - E29, E27, E25, E23, Dorothy - E01, E02, B99, B97, B95, C3, C5, C7, C8, City - G14, G17, G09, G 5, Y02, Spica sparkle pens (yellow, blue, green)
Embellishments: Marianne Design flourish, Die-Namics flourish, Wild Orchard flowers, MS leaf punch, Spellbinders flower die and Label Four, Michael's flower brad, Red Stickles (Dorothy's shoes)

Challenges for this card:
  • Make it Monday - Always anything goes
  • Anything Goes Challenge - Anything goes
  • Deep Ocean Blue - Inspired by a song (can't you just see Dorothy and her friends skipping down the yellow brick road?)
  • Paper Minutes - Spring Flowers
  • Sassy Cheryl - Anything goes
  • Top Tip Tuesday - Spotty, Dotty (not sure what that means, but Dotty could be Dorothy from Oz.  My tip is: on a criss-cross card you can seal the bottom flap to keep the cross closed or you can leave it unsealed so that the flaps can be opened.  When you leave them unsealed and open, the card will stand on its own.)
  • Use It Tuesday - Anything goes (used three year old Stampin Up paper from a special paper pack)
  • Pin-spirational Challenges - Picture (rainbow and yellow brick road)

Be sure and take a look at what the wonderful Design Team has come up with for your inspiration.  And then hop over to the Delightful Challenges site and check out this weeks challenge.

Happy Mother's Day

My own mother has been gone for about 2 years and at one time I thought I would not make anymore Mother's Day cards.
And then.....

Today is the start of the next Creative Craft Challenge and we are all using a sketch and Kenny K images from our sponsor.

Happy Baby to Come!

My baby son (now 25 years old) and his beautiful wife are expecting their first child at the end of May.  Since she has been having some difficulties the ladies at our church decided to give them a baby shower early. The shower on Saturday was well attended and everyone agrees that my newest grandchild will be the best dressed little girl in our town.  This is the card I made for the gift my husband and I gave them.

I couldn't resist using one of the new Magnolia Princess images as we know that the baby will be a girl.  This little one is soon to be her daddy's little princess.

Craft a Scene New Challenge - Silhouettes

Over at Craft a Scene we have a new challenge and sponsor for the month of April.  Caroline from  Carolines Creative Stamps  has generously granted the design team some of her digi image files to work with and they have done a marvelous job of showing what can be done with Caroline's stamps to make a scene.  Hop over and check them out when you have time.

For my card I used the Silhouette Treetop Collection #1.  When you open up the zip file you will find dozens of images that can be combined to make your project.

Using the free program GIMP, I arranged the fairy on the tree branch and then added the circle to frame the scene.  It was missing something so I added the stars for the fairy to be gazing up at. I used my Spellbinders Large Circle to cut out the image.  Then I added Adirondack Stonehenge Blue to simulate the evening sky.  I figured the fairy wouldn't be able to see those stars unless it was evening. With my main image set I then proceeded to layer it up on the Bazzill card stock.

Card Recipe:
Image: Carolines Creative Stamps Silhouette Treetop Collection #1
Paper: Bazzill yellow, Michael's black, Carolines background paper with Happy Birthday, All That Scraps Copic paper
Markers/Inks: Adirondack Stonehenge Blu, Yellow sparkle pen on the wings
Embellishments: Martha Stewart edge punch, Spellbinders Large Circles and Lacy Circles, Creative Memories corner rounder, Stampin Up pearls colored with B99 Copic, the black layer is embossed with a Sizzix embossing folder

Have a great Sunday!
